The Mayor's Cup meet was the brain child of Dept. of Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe. The event combines the teams from the PSAL, CHSAA and AIS which represent all the NYC HS athletes for a total entry of 160 teams .

Teams to watch : Last year's NYC PSAL Champion in both Boys & Girls divisions is DeWitt Clinton HS in the Bronx . The competition will come from Boys & Girls HS in the Girls division and East New York Transit Tech in the Boys division. Both are from Brooklyn .

Athletes to watch :

>James Blocker from August Martin HS ( Queens ) in the HJ. Blocker is an exciting athlete to watch as he nears 7"0 in the High Jump. He has cleared 6'10". His competition will come from Will Velez from St. Peter's ( Staten Island ) who has cleared 6'6" Coached by long time coach Orlando Martinez.

>Clemore Henry - From East New York Transit Tech is the newest sprint superstar for the 3 time Indoor National Sprint Medley Champion Transit. Henry competed in the OPEN 400M at the New Balance and came away with a National leading 48.49 performance and a #1 US ranking according to Dyestat. Henry is coached by former St. John 's athlete Sydney McIntosh.

>Lionel Williams- St. Peter's (Staten Island) is probably the most exciting Soph in the US . SHATTERED state and National Frosh records last year and has continued to shatter National and State records this year. His recent 1:19.68 600M gave him a Stanner game, State and National Soph record and a school varsity record .1:55.37 for 800M and his 1:54.0 split in the CHSAA Millrose Trials make him a potential winner in any mid-distance race his coach Ken McGill enters him in.

Middle College at Medgar Evers HS-Ranked #1 in the US with their 4 X 200M time of 1:40.87 at the 35th. Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Relays. Coached by Nichola Martial. Could dip below 1:40 if the comp is right.
