Preview - Div 1 girls race features MW#6 St. Ursula Academy Cincinnati OH travelling north to face MW#8 Goodrich MI, which is moving up from Div 3 for the challenge. Div 1 boys has national mile star Jeff See, whose Middletown OH team will test MW#10 Huron Ann Arbor MI. MW#6 Dexter MI boys are in Div 2.

In 6 years, the Portage Invitational has become one of the Midwest's premiere meets under the energetic leadership of local coaches Dan Wytko and Bill Fries.

2003 - Jeff See's 15:23 first place finish led US#18 Middletown OH to the boys Div 1 title. Rockford freshman Rachel Wittum 18:23 was second to Sarnia Ontario sr Alyson Kohlmeier 17:37, but was the first scorer in an easy team win for US#9 Rockford 78.

2002 - Fastest times are turned in by Saline MI jr Dustin Voss 15:41 and Sarnia Ontario sr Amy Kohlmeier 17:33. Rockford MI sweeps team titles.

2001 - Nikki Bohnsack leads Rockford girls to victory. Portage Northern and Lance Vanderberg win boys titles.

2000 - Rockford sweeps team titles. Dathan Ritzenhein wins by 61 seconds in course record 14:42. Rockford girls go 1-2-3 with Kalin Toedebusch, Nikki Bohnsack, and Lindsey Blaisdell.
