4x100
COA: Glenville Cleveland OH 41.11
Large Schools: Deep Creek VA 41.68
Small Schools: Winslow NJ 41.64
Independents: Army Prep NJ 43.31
Glenville streaks to victory from lane 9 as no one ever made up the stagger. Ted Ginn (2nd leg), who got redemption from a dropped baton last year, talked about the Cleveland schools financial troubles afterward. "They're trying to take the sports away from our schools, and I want to dedicate this to our schools, because its important to keep the sports in the schools."
4x400
COA: Winslow NJ 3:13.71
Philadelphia Area: Pennsbury 3:20.56
Reuben McCoy, who was disappointed at the start of the day when his bid for the 400m hurdles ended with a crashed hurdle on the turn, got his watch at the end of the day by anchoring Winslow's win. Three American teams were ahead of Jamaican champion Wolmer's Boys, who finished 4th in 3:15.95.
4x800
Archbishop Carroll DC 7:44.42 Carroll comes from behind with a 1:51.8 point anchor by Randy Lee to catch Holmwood Tech JAM on the final turn, 7:44.42-7:44.73. St. Jago JAM is 3rd in 7:47.06.
DMR
Shenendehowa NY 10:10.77 New York squad takes command at the end of the first leg and is never headed, although El Camino CA 10:11.96 and Cumberland Valley PA 10:12.03 hung tough.

Mile
Sarah Bowman VA 4:48.55 Fauquier County VA junior bolted on top at the outset and never looked back. She finished in 4:48.55, seven seconds ahead of Broadneck MD sr Lauren Centrowicz 4:53.75. Pre-race favorite Devon Williams, the national indoor athlete of the year, was never a factor, fading to last late and dropping out.
3000
Laura Cummings NY 9:51.28 Bay Shore NY junior and Midlothian VA jr Amanda Patterson ran the exact reverse of their 2 mile in the Nike Indoor Championships, when Cummings sat on Patterson until the last lap and then surged in front for the win. But Cummings spoiled the symmetry after Patterson took the lead with 300 meters to go by surging back on the far turn for the win. Cumming said she is usually not a kicker, and she couldn't remember regaining a lead after losing it late. "But I really wanted to win this one," Cummings said.
400H
Nicole Leach PA 57.84 West Catholic Philadelphia PA junior shakes off a bad start and roars down the stretch to beat the old record (Melanie Walker JAM 2001) by 0.01 second.
HJ
Lauren Biscardi NY 5-7
LJ
Shana Woods CA 20-4.25 Poly Long Beach CA soph's first jump is the winner. The top two seeds, 20-foot Jamaicans Petta Gaye Beckford and Tamara Francis, were no shows.
TJ
Andrea Linton JAM 40-2
PV
Lindsay Regan PA 12-7.5 Easton PA soph took the lead when indoor national record holder Danielle O'Reilly NJ missed once at 11-11. After both cleared 12-3 easily, Regan made 12-7.25 on her first try as O'Reilly missed three times.

4x100
COA: Vere Tech JAM 44.32, Poly Long Beach CA 44.50, Holmwood Tech JAM 44.62
Large Schools: Bethel VA 46.56
Small Schools: West Catholic PA 47.68
Independents: McDonogh MD 50.07
Jack Pfeiffer's Penn Relays preview was eerily prophetic. Speaking of Poly, Pfeiffer wrote, "They have vowed to break the national record at Penn. Of course, they could do that and still not win the race." That is exactly what happened. Anneisha McLaughlin's third leg appeared to give Holmwood Tech a slight lead over Vere's Facey entering the stretch, with Poly's Shalonda Solomon third. Facey and Solomon both passed Holmwood anchor Nyoka Cole, and Facey held her edge over Solomon. Vere Tech, Poly and Holmwood Tech all beat the old Penn Relays record (44.78), and Poly broke the US record. (44.63 by Alief Elsik TX last year).
4x400
COA: Poly Long Beach CA 3:36.85
Philadelphia Catholic: West Catholic 3:45.56
Philadelphia Public: Dobbins VoTech 3:57.32
Stung by their loss in the 4x100 (albeit a national record), Poly erased all doubt by taking the lead on the second leg and icing the victory with a 52.7 anchor by Shalonda Solomon.
4x800
COA: Edwin Allen JAM 8:50.20 Jamaican rivals Edwin Allen and Holmwood Tech duelled throughout, taking turns on the lead, with Holmwood slightly ahead at the bell. Edwin Allen moved for the lead on the turn but couldn't get around. Edwin Allen moved again in the stretch and got up by a split second. Just before the finish, Holmwood dropped its baton. Although Holmwood was timed in 8:50.26, the stadium announcer said the results were not official because "you have to finish with the baton." Holmwood's anchor then circled around and picked up the baton and crossed the finish line again for an official time of 9:00.56, still good enough for second place.
DMR
Saratoga Springs NY 11:45.62 After years of dominating the US cross country scene, coach Art and Linda Kranick's team finally rewarded them with the big Penn Relays winner's plaque by winning the DMR in 11:45.62. Saratoga led from the second lap, with Nicole Blood's 4:46.6 anchor holding off Edwin Allen JAM 11:49.80. San Pasqual CA 11:58.62 was third. Edwin Allen was later DQ'd for using Kay Ann Thompson 4:48.1 on anchor; she had already run four years at Penn.
