A stretch running come from behind victory is normally a crowd pleaser, but Eaglecrest CO sr Steve Curtis took the wind out of the sails of the crowd, which very much wanted to see local boy Aaron Wolfe win. Wolfe did his best and led for all but the last 50 meters, setting a pace of 63.0, 2:08, and 3:18 before Curtis launched his stretch charge. |
Layton UT sr Stacie Lifferth had the last surge in a race that saw a succession of leaders. Evelyn Wing took the field through 69.0 and 2:31 splits before Nebraskan Sara Ensrud took command and seemed headed for victory. At the bell, Elisabeth Goshu CO kicked into the lead, only to be caught by Lifferth in the stretch. |
