  • M-400H final - USA's Joey Woody 48.18 wins silver behind Olympic champion Felix Sanchez 47.25.
  • W-1500 semi -Regina Jacobs is sixth and misses the finals in a heat with several shoves and tumbles. Jacobs raced three wide to stay clear for much of the race and faded in the stretch after bidding for the lead on the turn.
  • W 4x100 round 1 - USA 42.03 wins heat easily with Angela Williams, Chryste Gaines, Inger Miller, and Lauryn Williams. It was the fastest time in the world this year with Kelli White and Torri Edwards resting. France, using Muriel Hurtis and Christine Arron, wins their heat in 42.04, a French national record.
  • M 200 final - John Capel 20.30 +0.1, Darvis Patton 20.31 go 1-2. Capel took the lead on the turn and held it to the end. Patton closed from 5th to 2nd in the last 40 meters and just missed winning.
  • M 800 semi - David Krummenacker 1:47.25, Khadevis Robinson 1:50.60 miss the finals by a bunch..
  • M 110H semi - Allen Johnson 13.19 +0.0 and Terrence Trammell 13.34 +0.6 win heats easily. Chris Phillips 13.48 and Larry Wade 13.55 also advance to final.
  • W HJ prelim - Amy Acuff 6-4 qualifies for finals.
