John Richardson 4:11.80

New Jersey observors have been predicting a breakthrough race for John Richardson for some time. They got it here, as the Ocean City NJ senior finished strongly to win in the stretch over Strongsville OH sr Chris Kollar 4:12.11 and Belmont MA jr Victor Gras 4:12.69, who led through 2 laps. Defending champion Matt DeBole NC 4:13.41 slipped to fourth at the end.

After the race, Richardson appeared to be overcome with mixtures of joy and disbelief.
