Plano East TX sr Terrence Wheatley was all smiles after
he sailed past 50 feet on his first jump. "I've got it won, now
I can go for a big one," he said. He didn't get the big one,
but he did get the win on his first jump. The Texas 5A triple jump
champion (50-7.75) is signed to attend the University of Colorado
next year for football and track.

Killeen Ellison TX sr Chaime (rhymes with fame) Breaux
raced back to the takeoff board after his last jump, shouting, "Gimme
that five-oh-oh." He didn't get 50 feet, but he did get second
place on a leap of 49-06.25. Breaux was happy to be jumping again
after a long injury layoff. Indoors this year, he was US#3 in triple
jump and US#1 in 60 meters (6.73). Breaux will run and jump for Texas
Christian next year. |
