B-1500
Leonel Manzano 3:55.92

This was Marble Falls Austin TX junior Leonel Manzano's first 1500 meters in 2-3 years, and he figures the difference in feel from a 1600-meter race cost him a chance at the meet record (3:50.24). "I should have kicked sooner," said Manzano, the Texas Relays 1600-meter champion (4:06.29). "I wanted the record." He also said the altitude affected him, and he scratched from the 800 meters, that was scheduled an hour later, even though he is one of the top 10 in the country in that event off his 1:51.54 meet record at the Kansas Relays.

The 1500 was a close race with everyone in it when Jason Coleman's move at the bell set off the final strategies. Sitting 5th at this point, Manzano moved swiftly to the front on the backstretch and won going away.
