G-4x100 - Alief Elsik 44.63 USR

Alief Elsik TX and Skyline Dallas TX were blazing fast in the Texas 5A state meet, and they were even faster here. At the state meet 2 weeks ago, Elsik's 44.90 made them the third US team ever to break 45 seconds and the second fastest team ever (St. Bernard Playa del Rey CA 1997 held the record at 44.70, and Poly Long Beach CA this year ran 44.96), and Skyline Dallas was second at 45.51.

Tonight, Alief Elsik broke the record with a stunning time of 44.63 for their second national record this year (1:34.51 4x200), making track fans long for a showdown with Poly Long Beach, which has broken two national records itself this year (3:35.55 4x400 at Penn Relays and 1:38.73 800m SMR at Arcadia). Alas, however, at this point, Poly is headed for the Golden West and Elsik for AOC Raleigh, both the second weekend of June. Skyline also improved on their Texas state meet time at 45.38, but the all-star Texas C team sped to second place in 45.19.

Elsik's order: Gloria Asumnu, Chantelle Ward, Francheska Ketchum, and Jamee Jones.

Stretch - It looked as if two teams were in lane 4 because Elsik's 3rd leg,
Francheska Ketchum (470) followed anchor Jamee Jones (469) to the finish line.

At right is Skyline Dallas anchor Jazmin Greer (459).
