400m - Mark Teter

Reagan San Antonio sr Mark Teter hit the national charts when he won the Texas 5A 400 meters 2 weeks ago in 46.15. He confirmed that mark here with a seemingly effortless lap in 46.39. Jimmie Gordon 46.99 was second.

Teter appeared to cruise through the first half of the race before accelerating swiftly on the far turn to end the argument. Teter afterward said that was his style. "I try to pace myself to the turn and then judge what the others are doing and react accordingly," Teter said, "unless I am in an outside lane. Then I just go hard from the start. The track was good here, but the altitude got to me. It was help from God that got me through."

Next up for Teter is AOC Raleigh, where he looks forward to facing "X-man" Xavier Carter, who is the only boy in the country to run the one-lapper faster than Teter this year (45.88 and 46.08).
