Bobby Curtis 4:07.06

Kentucky sr Bobby Curtis (42) and Washington sr Carl Moe (142) had a laugh on the starting line, and Curtis had the last laugh at the end. After Moe held big leads through three laps, Curtis turned on his usual kick and won going away with a 58-second last lap. Moe had to have been tired from his high school graduation party the night before, flying from Seattle to Sacramento the day of the race.
