Ricky Quintana's Quotes

Craig Woods
It was good. To come out here to the Arcadia national meet and win it, there is no better feeling except wining state. Kevin Craddock is an amazing hurdler. I saw him coming up on the side. I just had to stay focused.
RQ: Did you look over?
Woods: No matter what you do, you can see the peripheral. I was looking straight, but still, when it’s that close of a race, you can always see him on your side. There was a lot of pressure in that race. The difference was staying consistent. Like at Pasedena, Thomas Mack got out on me and I found myself more trying to catch him than trying to run my own pace. That hurt me a lot. This week, he got on me again, but I kept my running phase tight. I was able to float over the hurdles like I do in practice. This is a good feeling. I beat the defending California champion in both of his races. I beat him last week. Or two weeks ago in Pasedena in a very close race. I came back and beat him today. I just hope that he feels better so that we can get him out here for the 300. I want to come out here and win again in the 300, but like I said, in any field, there’s no set winner. You have to come out here and run your best. On any given day, you can be the winner, but on any other day someone else will beat you. You can never let your guard down.

Ricky Quintana's Quotes

Craig Woods
It means a lot to come out here to what is considered one of the best in season meets in the nation. To come out and win both events at the start of the season after not having been ranked at the beginning. That’s pretty good.
RQ: That race was not as close and maybe a little easier than the 110’s.
Woods: Yeah, it wasn’t as close. I was hoping for Mack, but I saw him earlier with ice on his knee and on his hamstrings. Coming into the 110, he was a little shaky. I just pray that he gets well enough to come back. Probably the next time that I see him will be state.
RQ: Are you happy with your time?
Woods: I’m happy with it. I’m very happy with it, but I know I could have run faster had I not demolished the last hurdle.
RQ: What happened there?
Woods: It was a loss of concentration. I just got there and stuttered my steps just a little bit and then I tried to go over. I snapped down a little too fast. That just forced me to take out the whole hurdle. I came in off balance over the line.
