Ricky Quintana's Quotes

Katy Trotter
RQ
: It was a good time for this early.
Katy Trotter: Yeah, my strategy was to go out nice and comfortable, don’t go crazy on the first lap. I didn’t even know what the exact splits were. I just wanted to run comfortable and then work my way up and progress. I’m ecstatic with my condition. I’m really kind of surprised that Kaltenbach didn’t race today. I guess she opted for the two mile. I was looking forward to running against her. Hopefully, I’ll get to run into her again. She’s just incredible.
RQ: You opted out of the indoor national meets.
Trotter: yeah. That was probably the best thing I could have done. I got a nice training period in there, not worrying about racing. Focusing on normal things there.
RQ: Do you feel fresh and all?
Trotter: Yeah. Yeah. I’ve got pop in my legs and for the most part felt pretty good.

Amanda Thornberry
You know, the strategy was just to see how they might take it out. They took it out really hard last year so I kind of stuck behind. When I saw that the girls weren’t going to be able to handle that pace, I just took over. It was a great push for me. I wanted to get that 1200 mark. The 1600m mark, it will come as my speed continues to increase. I was really happy with just my ability to….. I felt great and went with it.
RQ: You didn’t seem intimidated at all. What was your feeling coming into the race?
Thornberry: My feeling coming into it was that I was excited to run my race. I think the fact of coming in confident and just realizing that God’s peace is in me, I could do what I came to do. Excellent PR. I’m so excited. Even though I didn’t get the win, I’m happy with my time. When I heard those splits, I was just “yes!” I just have to keep going.
