Foot Locker finalist Kevin Tschirhart anchors fast early time

Northport sophomore Kevin Tschirhart ran in the Foot Locker national finals in San Diego 13 days ago. Then he took off with 4 days of easy jogging. In his first race since then, Tschirhart finished up a victory by Northport with a 4:23.7 1600 meter leg. "It felt great," Tschirhart said. "a lot better than 5000 meters." Told of his team's fine early season mark, Tschirhart said, "We are hoping to do some damage at the Penn Relays this year."

It was a rout for Northport after Bryan Quinn hammered out a 3:06.7 opening 1200 meter leg. He was followed by Terry Ross' 50.7 for 400 meters and Mike Bamberger's 1:59.1 for 800 meters.

Leg 1 - Quinn was in a fight with Kyle Fiasconaro, Commack, after 800 meters, but he pulled away in the last lap.

Leg 3 - Mike Bamberger took care of business in the 800 meter leg and handed off to Tschirhart.
