As if Poly Long Beach CA girls needed any extra motivation,
they arrived at the Armory to find that their Armory record 4x200
relay from last year was credited to crosstown rival Wilson Long Beach
on the Armory's big board of Armory records. A quick stickie fixed
the problem temporarily, and then Poly went out and improved on the
record head to head with Wilson. |

"I really thought this was my day to break the record.
But #2 all-time in high school isn't that bad. Right now. I'm pretty
pleased with the meet, with a national championship under my belt.
I've never had that before. I really wanted that 13-5, but outdoor
is coming up soon, and I've been working on a lot of things, and
I think it can happen out there. My second jump was extremely close.
I just barely knicked it. Those heights are definitely within my
reach. I maybe should have been on a bigger pole, and with the adreneline
rushing and all the waiting, it drained me a little bit."
