Start of Div 3-4-5 Girls Team Sweepstakes Friday evening

Another chapter in the rivalry between San Lorenzo Valley and Campolindo went to the girls with the red "SLV" on their singlets over the girls with the blazing red uniform with a big "C". Campolindo won the state Division 3 championship by 1 point over SLV last year, and it looks like this year could be just as close.

Half Mile

Mile

Barrientos took the lead over Flacks for good heading for Poop Out Hill late in the second mile
Campolindo ran in a very tight pack,
which stretched out as the race wore on.

the finish

1. Raquel Barrientos
2. Lindsay Flacks

Raquel enjoyed her biggest victory since being part of San Lorenzo Valley's US record distance medley relay at the Penn Relays in her freshman year. Plagued by injuries since then, she seems primed for a good senior year. "I'm kind of in awe," Barrientos said. "I was so surprised to be up front, but I felt so good I just kept going." She said she would now be more aggressive in the state meet and Foot Locker regional. Raquel has already decided to join sister Alejandra Barrientos next year at UCLA
