Let the Games Begin! This is the fourth year of the Great American and still as exciting as the first. The site this year is the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte North Carolina. The teams come from all over the country to meet the challenges of the course and other runners.

This is also the last year of the Great American under the direction of founder, Rick Hill. The Great American says Rick Hill was "all about dreams, dedication and a commitment to excellence." "We promoted our first race as the "Last Great Race of The Century." Now he looks forward to the Great American's next life under the direction of the National Scholastic Sports Foundation, Inc.

For the high school kids, Friday was a day for course walks, pasta dinner, and relaxation.
