Seeded Girls - the back hills

After a flat first mile on a huge plain along Broadway, the Van Cortlandt Park course rises into hills and woods for a mile and a half. Coach-photographer John Nepolitan went to the back hills for these photos of the girls seeded race.

The race broke open early in the second mile as the girls headed up a hill. After stalking Nicole Blood through the first mile, Ari Lambie moved to the front and gapped Blood with surprising ease (below). Lambie cruised on to the finish without a challenge. right, Blood leads the rest.

the hills and finished 3rd

Cummings finished 7th and Powell 8th, but Maloy faded to 13th
