Team Captain - Sea Hawks XC Varsity

"Natalie (the Sophomore girl) wants to fit in so much that she goes through extensive lies to get there. She lies about having a tutor, about having a boyfriend, where she is going, etc. It is too uncool to have a tutor, but she needs one in order to stay on the team, and she is just beginning to be popular on the team. What's more is that Zach, a delicious stud and the team captain is finally noticing her. She is desperate for attention because all three of her best friends have boyfriends and have been out on dates leaving her alone, and feeling dejected. But then through yet another lie word gets out that her tutor, Matt, is her boyfriend, and just when Zach starts making a move to get her Natalie realizes he is just on the rebound from a previous relationship. Then to throw in one more monkey wrench Natalie decides that she likes her tutor, and it seems as if the feeling is mutual, but he already has a legitimate girlfriend.

Once you start this book you can't put it down. It is such a comical story, and yet it contains the complete high school scenario including: The trouble with social status, grades, emotions, difficult teachers, drama, trouble with friends, lies, and last but not least the dating game, which Stephie Davis portrays in a realistic, touching, and yet comical way."
