disappointing. The Sand Devils from Page placed 3, 5, 7, 10, 11 and their 6th man finished a very impressive 14th, for a total of 36 points. Chinle finished in 2nd place, in front of Tuba City with 136 points in 3rd place. Tiny Northland Prep rounded
out the top four and provided the winner of the race with Senior Tolan Thornton (11th NON 2 mile, 9:09.18) defeating a
tightly knit group until 20 meters before the finish. A smaller invite held in the southern part of the state, the Tiger Classic –
Marana, saw seven teams toe the line. Ironwood Ridge of Tucson won this affair with 28 points, followed by Canyon del
Oro with 67 points.

use the race as a workout or to develop strategy for meets later.

In the CO rankings out on 9/5, Cherry Creek drops to 4th in the 5A state rankings behind, Fort Collins, 2nd Smoky Hill, 3rd Dakota Ridge, and 5th Denver North.

On Saturday, September 3, Mountain View ran at the Bulldog/Utah County Invitational, which was a full 5K with tall
grass and many steady hills and considered a very difficult course. Along with many other schools present there were
nationally ranked SW#3/US#20 American Fork and SW#6 Judge Memorial. Although Mountain View’s top runner Adam McDonald was very ill, he still overcame his illness to help them win the meet. Mountain View put their top 5 runners in the top 15 going 1,5,10,11, and 14 with a gap of less than 45 seconds. The MV boys are on track to being

will get answered.”

Nevada

In the annual kick-off “Class” race (where each class races against other runners in that grade), South Tahoe dominated
with 4 girls within 25 seconds of each other. A 5th girl had an asthma attached or would have been in the 25 second
spread. Reno did not participate in the meet.

The Reno teams raced at the Granite Bay Invitational in Northern California. The SW#3 Reno girls easily won 61 - 109
for second place. There were twenty plus teams, including all the top teams from Northern California. There was only a
25 second spread between Reno's 2nd to 5th runners, with Melanie "Mel" Lawrence winning by a big margin. The top five Reno girls all placed in the top twenty.
