Liberty Bell Invitational
September 16th, 2005
Littleton, CO

SW#4 Fort Collins CO (69) and SW#5 Rock Springs WY (107) both take out SW#1/US#12 Albuquerque Academy boys (108). The Chargers from New Mexico just recently accended to the #1 spot in the Southwest after the recent revising of the NTN Regions. Matt Herzl of Heritage came out a winner on his home course. Herzl, who was reported to have tripped, stumbled and fell, believed he had a comfortable lead against Paul Burke (Campbell County, WY) and Noah Shannon (Fort Collins). Near the finish, Herzl mistook a corner and went down. After a couple of seconds, he got up and took it home in a time of 15:27. Burke finished in second (15:28) and Shannon was third at 15:32.

In the girls race, Rocky Mountain CO girls 66 (3-4-8-12-39) was a big winner over Cherry Creek CO (83). Then came SW#7 Fairview CO (90), SW#5 Fort Collins CO (122), and SW#8 Campbell County WY (143). Still back was SW#9 Smoky Hill CO (234) in 8th (their #4 runner resting and their #2 DNF) . Meanwhile, Katie Follett of Fort Collins was said to be in complete control throughout the race. Follett was on cruise control in her victory; winning with a time of 17:44, followed by Smoky Hill's Keara Sammons (17:51) and Dani Parry of Rocky Mountain (18:02).
