Conditions were great overall, drizzle at start of boys'
race, calm, 60 degrees, light wind.
According to an Denver North's assistant coach, they are
banged up. They beat SW#10
Denver South at
their League last week by 2 pts. They qualified for State, but were 4th
in the boys race. Smoky Hill ran their best race by far of the year to
win with 48 pts. Places for them are: 2,3,8,13, and 22. 16:02, 16:08,
16:40, 16:45, and 17:10 for their top 5. Richard
Medina (Grand Junction)
ran solo the whole way, looking great. He should have a shot to win
the 5A state title next week.
In the girls race, Keara Sammons led whole
way controlled. Littleton gave Smoky Hill all they could handle, with
Smoky winning by a point. Erin Stratton for SH, 8th in State last year,
was 17th today, battling an illness of unknown type. Littleton had been
running well all season, winning a couple meets and performing consistently.
