(As reported on AZStarnet.com) Flowing Wells girls (Pre-season SW#6 ) won the 4A Kino Region competition with 27 points. Catalina Foothills was second with 37. Nogales was third with 71.

"Every race, we have been missing somebody, and to finally have everyone here today and to run well against Catalina Foothills, who is a great team … I think it shows that our team is looking pretty good so far," Flowing Wells coach Mandee Fish said.

Flowing Wells' Tara Erdmann dominated the race, finishing with a time of 18 minutes 14 seconds (new course record). Nogales' Susan Melendez was second in 19:16, and Flowing Wells' Kirsten Leikem was third in 19:23.
