US#2 Smoky Hill Aurora CO girls win big Liberty Bell Invitational despite injury to defending Foot Locker national champion Katelyn Kaltenbach.

#1 Smoky Hill Aurora CO
Ran well on Friday winning the Liberty Bell Invitational with 55 points, but must now carefully watch Katelyn Kaltenbach who is nursing a sore ankle. Running in Division 1, they scored 3, 5, 10, 12 and 25 -- with Kaltenbach finishing as their #2 -- but got strong performances from Keara Sammons (3rd in 18:15) and Erin Stratton (10th in 18:58). Coach Weich believes Smokey Hill might be better than he first suspected.

#2 Los Alamos NM
This weekend was idle.
Next weekend (Friday) at the Albuquerque Academy Invitational.

#3 Fremont Plain City UT
Won the Murray Invitational with 45 points over second place Park City UT and Provo UT (#10 SW). Scored 2, 4, 8, 15, 16. Top finisher Alexis Meyer was 2nd running 19:29. Their split from their first runner to their 5th was 1:05. Complete results can be found at:

#4 Reno NV
Won the Nevada Union Invitational in Grass Valley, CA with 49 points. Individual finishers placed 1, 3, 10, 15, and 20. Reno sophomore Marie Lawrence was the overall winner, running 17:46. Except for their #3 runner (who is a junior), their top five are composed of two freshman and two sophomores.

#5 Mountain Pointe AZ

#6 Cherry Creek CO
Finished behind Smoky Hill (#1 SW) with a total of 97 pointsat the Liberty Bell Invitational (to Smoky Hill's who had 55 points). Cherry Creek went 11, 14, 20, 23, 29.

#7 Orem UT
Finished 10 at Liberty Bell, getting clipped by (#9 SW) Albuquerque Academy. Their girls went 22, 26, 40, 53, 67.

#8 Ganado AZ
Competed in the Canyon de Chelle Invitational winning with a total of 29 points over Page (65).
Next week -- Page Steel/Lake Powell Invitational.

#9 Albuquerque Academy NM
Finished 9th at Liberty Bell with finishes at 2, 8, 11, 27, 42.
Next week hosting the Albuquerque Academy Invitational.

#10 Provo UT
Ran at the Murray Invitational finishing third behind Fremont Plain City UT (#3 SW) and Park City UT with 128 points. Individual places were 17, 20, 26. 46, 54. Their top runner was Joanna Blackburn who finished 17 with a time of 20:37 and had a spread of 1:31.8 between runners #1 and #5. Sat out their top five while competing at the Ojo Rojo Invitational in Chandler, AZ.
Next race -- Doug Conley Invitational, October 2nd, Tempe, AZ.

#4 Page AZ
Won the Chinle Invitational with a perfect score of 15 points over Chinle (56 points) with five teams competing. Next week hosting the Page Steel/Lake Powell Invitational.

#5 Albuquerque Academy NM
Champions of Division 1 at the Liberty Bell Invitational with 66 points. Finishing places -- 4 ,6, 9, 15, 32.
Next week hosting the Albuquerque Academy Invitational.

#6 Fort Collins CO
Finished 2nd behind Albuquerque Academy (*#5 SW) with 95 points. Finishing places -- 12, 16, 20, 23, 24.

#7 Jordan UT
Missing

#8 Reno NV
Won the Nevada Union Invitational in Grass Valley, CA with 53 points. Individuals placed 1, 5, 9, 13 and 52. The overall winner was Reno's junior Joseph Parker, running 15:55.

#9 Denver South CO
Won at the Liberty Bell Invitational but unfortunately raced in the Division 2 section. We believe the real race was in Division 1, where South could have gone head-to-head with many fine teams. At press time we had still not gotten a copy of complete results so we therefore cannot score the two divisions as one.

#10 American Fork UT
