US#12 HL#2 Iowa City West girls score 44 points to trounce a field of state-ranked teams

The Iowa City West had their first real test of the year as they took on #10 Heartland #4 Iowa ranked Iowa City High at the Cedar Rapids Invitational 4k. The field also included the #5, 9, 12, 14, 15 rated teams in Iowa Class 4A and three of the top 5 rated teams in class 3A including #1 ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier.

West dominated the team race winning with 44 points led by returning state champion Sarah Wickman who placed second in 15:02 behind Pleasant Valley's Kelsey Bulat 14:23. West's other scorers were Claire Hall 15:12, Julia Frudden 15:19, Jordan Stahlecker
15:28 and Janet Dobyns 15:37.

Xavier finished second with 94, Marion 3rd with 111 and Iowa City High 4th with 116.

Iowa City West now heads to the Luther College invitational Saturday (9/11) and then to theRim Rock Farm Classic on Sept. 18.
