6A-5A BOYS: Quintell Wilson led Edmund North OK, to the team title with an outstanding 49.0/ 1:56.6 sweep of the 400/800. Wilson dominated both races, with Keron Toussaint (Free State, Lawrence 50.9) and Jake Steicklein (Maize 2:00.8) second in their respective races.  A national class javelin competition saw Cole Zenisek (Kapaun-Mt. Carmel, Wichita) launch the spear 208-2.  Luke Laird (Garnder-Edgerton 188-7) and Iain Trimble (Shawnee Heights, Topeka 186-10) landed national class marks in second and third, with Adam Capps (Bishop Carroll, Wichita) fourth at 175-1.  Ricardo Wallen (Derby) won the sprints in 11.3/ 22.73 and added the long jump title at 21-10. 
   Other field winners included Jacob Crossman (Haysville Campus, Wichita 53-2 SP), Jacob Breth (Bishop Carroll, Wichita 154-5 DT), Jonathan Owens (Shawnee Heights, Topeka 43-0.5 TJ), and  Harold Hartfield (Stillwater OK 6-4 HJ). Kyle Ford (Edmund North OK jumped 14-3 in the PV, with Justin Bowen (Gardner-Edgerton) second at 14-0.
  Other wins on the track went to Bryce Volz (Bishop Carroll, Wichita) with a 10:04.4 3200, Marco Jones of Wichita West with a 15.6 110H run, and Mitchell Rolfes (Edmund North OK) with a  40.6 300H.  Free State, Lawrence won the 4 x 100 by over a second with 42.7 run, and Edmund North won both the 4 x 400 (3:28.8 over Great Bend's 3:29.2 and Hutchinsons' 3:29.44) and the 4 x 800 (8:11.5, with Hutchinson second at 8:14.6).
   Edmund North OK took the title with 84 points, with Bishop Carroll, Wichita second 70 and Free State, Lawrence third with 68.

5A 6A GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS:  Girl's distance races were strong as Kali George (Gardner-Edgerton) and Alysha Valencia (Free State, Lawrence) hooked up.  In the 1600, George surged to a 5:03.1 win with Valencia second (5:12.1) with Lauren Bonds (Hutchinson) third at 5:20.8.   George also took Valencia in the 800 (2:19.6 to 2:25.3) with Erin Watson (Edmund North OK) third at 2:25.98 and Chelsea Clanton (Great Bend) fourth at 2:27.57.  Valencia scored her own win on the track in the 3200, roaring to a 10:59.2, despite 30 mph winds and high temps.  Bonds was second at 11:22.0.
    Terri Anderson (Haysville Campus, Wichita) put up big throws marks, launching the discus 145-2 with Kaitlyn Wagle (Great Bend) second at 125-2.  Anderson also took the shot at 39-7, with Wagle again second at 37-9.5.  Julie Koehn (Kapaun-Mt. Carmel, Wichita) launched the javelin 130-9, with Tricia Dunham (Free State, Lawrence) second at 124-6.
    Other notable field wins went to Kendra Reed (Great Bend) in the TJ at 35-0.5 and Danielle Hayes (Hutchinson) with a 10-0 win in the vault (Ciara Lindsey of Maize was second on misses).  Taylor Price (Gardner-Edgerton) won the HJ at 5-2, with three others at the same heighth.  Kechia Clark (Arkansas City) popped a big 17-3.5 to win the LJ. 
    Audacia Moore (Heights, Wichita) roared to wins in the sprints, taking the 100 (12.41 ) and the 200 (25.44).  Ashlynn Bedell of Maize was second in both short sprints, and took the 400 at 59.4.  Pauline Kennedy (Derby) took the hurdle races at 16.1/ 48.1
    Relay wins went to Edmund North OK (51.4 4 x 100 over Great Bend's 51.5); Great Bend in the 4 x 400 (4:09.65 with Hutchinson at 4:10.04 and Maize 4:11.27); and Gardner-Edgerton in the 4 x 800 (9:55.3) with Kaupan-Mt. Carmel (10:06.0) and Edmund North OK (10:13.3) in second and third.
    Hutchinson scored 97 to win the girl's team title, with Free State, Lawrence a close second at 90, and Great Bend third with 87.
   

CLASS 4A/ 3A BOYS:  Eric Thomas (TMP-Marian, Hays) highlighted this division with a big throws double.  Thomas won the SP at 61-9.5 from Dane Jansson (Collegiate, Wichita 52-7.5) and took the DT at 183-5, with Luke Bryant (Clearwater) also tough with a 179-5 toss.  Brett Trudo (Wamego) also put up a national class mark with a 195-10 JT win with Zac Balthazor (Concordia) second at 170-3. 
    Jesse Deal (Concordia) soared to a 6-10 HJ win over a strong field, with Taylor Dunavan (Belle Plaine), Chance Chelemedos (Scott City) and Wade Schmidt (Cheney) clearing 6-4 in places 2-3-4.  Vic Johnson (Collegiate, Wichita) jumped 22-3 to take the long jump from the Baldwin duo of Aaron Mills (21-11) and Jeremy Wright (21-10).  Josh Honeycutt (Iola) lept 46-2.5 to win the long jump with Johnson second (45-2).  Jason Robben (Andale) won the vault at 12-6.
    Brigham Diedrich (Wamego) dominated the sprints, winning the 100 (11.4), 200 (22.87) and 400 (51.4).  Bobby Morton (El Dorado) won the 800 (2:01.2) and 1600 (4:30.4) with solid margins, and Cole Ginther (TMP-Marian, Hays) won the 3200 by almost third seconds at 9:40.3.  Logan Mills (Clearwater) won the 110H at 15.6, with Taylor Dunavan (Belle Plaine) second with the same time, and Aaron Hannan (Baldwin) won the 300H at 40.3.
   Baldwin swept the relays, winning the the 4 x 100 in 44.2 from Concordia (same time, the 4 x 400 in 3:30.19 (Clearwater 3:31.42) and the 4 x 800 (8:15.5, with Scott City 8:18.2 and TMP-Marian, Hays 8:24.6).
   Baldwin romped to the team crown with 92 points, with a rare four way tie for second with Concordia, El Dorado, TMP-Marian, and Belle Plaine all scoring 54.
  

4A/ 3A GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS:  One prominent high school coaches comment said it all in the 4A-3A division:  "If anybody in 4A can beat Concordia, that's the story of the year."   The Panthers used a well-rounded attack to roll to 131 points, with Wellington second with 66 and Baldwin third with 57.     
   Abby James led the Concordia attack, winning the PV at 11-0, with Jocelyn Forshee leading a 1-2-3 sweep of the 300H at 47.7 (Witney Sorell second at 48.08 and Alison Widen third at 48.29).  Blair Vignery won the 200 (26.94) and 400 (60.50) for Concordia, with a 51.1 4 x 100 and 4:09.1 4 x 400 (El Dorado 4:14.36, Clearwater 4:15.5) adding relay points.
   Other top marks abounded in the meet.  Hope Gregory (Cheney) tossed the javelin 136-8 to win, with Cortney Brown (Royal Valley) second at 123-11.  Lissa Mazanec (Colby) won the DT at 136-7, with Gregory second (125-9) and Jackie Rogers (Iola) third at 125-4.   Rogers won the shot at 37-10.5, with Tiffany Troxel (Royal Valley 36-11.5) and Christa Bergman (Concordia 36-11) second and third.
   Jump wins went to S.J. Mitchell (Wellington) with 5-4 HJ, winning on misses from Jackie Goleman (DeSoto), with Emily Middleton (Iola) third at 5-2.  Middleton won the TJ at 34-8.75.  Justin Davenport (El Dorado) won the LJ at 16-6.75 by a quarter-inch over Ashley Bell (Collegiate, Wichita).    
   Heather Garcia (Baldwin) won the distances, winning the 1600 in 5:14.9 (Cori Christensen, Medicine Lodge 5:18.4 and Laura Nightengale, El Dorado 5:24.7) and 3200 in 11:31.1 (Leah Thompson, Lyons 11:48.7 and Jessica Stephens, Colby 12:09.4).  Nightengale turned the tables on Garcia in the 800, winning in 2:19.9 to 2:21.7, with Christensen third 2:23.4.
   Witney Sorell (Concordia) won the 100H in 15.8 from S.J. Mitchell (Wellington 15.9), and Wamego ran 10:05.1 to edge Iola (10:06.6) in the 4 x 800.
   

2A/ 1A BOYS HIGHLIGHTS:  Andrew Topham (Peabody-Burns) highlighted the 2A-1A boys division with a 4:40.4/ 9:44.9 distance double, winning both races by solid margins.  Josh Oak (Macksville) also dominated his races, running to 15.9/ 41.7 hurdle wins.  Steven Fankhouser (Sterling) ran to victory in the 100 (11.5) and 400 (52.0), and  John Talbert, a home schooled Wichitan, won the SP (52-10.5), DT (173-8) and was second in the JT  (161-1) to Nathan Matzen (Garden Plain 174-11).
   Other wins went to Logan Hall (Skyline, Pratt 23.43 200), Lyal Miller (St. John 2:08.3 800), Jeff Greer (Dexter 6-0 HJ), Jason Dunn (Satanta 13-0 PV, with Tim Rosenberg, South Haven second at the same height), Logan Dold (Garden Plain 21-10.5 LJ) and Joey Stromberg (Sterling 40-4 TJ).
    Relay wins went to Sterling (45.2 4 x 100), South Haven (8:52.1 4 x 800) and a close 4 x 400 saw Sterling (3:38.57) hold off Macksville (3:39.19).
    Sterling scored 113 for the team title, with Garden Plain (91) edging Macksville (87) for second.
   

2A/ 1A GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS:  Jessi Haukap (Garden Plain) launched to Javelin 130-4 to edge Taci Alpers (St. John 129-4) to highlight 2A-1A competition.    Stephanie King (Marmaton Valley) romped to 2:26.1 800/ 5:26.7 distance wins , while MaryJo Mott  did the same in the 100 (13.2) and 200 (26.75).  Paige Carswell (Skyline, Pratt) won the LJ (16-2) and TJ (37-3). 
    Other field wins went to Sarah Unruh (Greensburg) with a 5-2 HJ, Michelle Mitchell (Garden Plain) with 10-0 PV, Misty Lowe (St. Mary's) with a 35-3 SP, Jenna Ginest (Stafford) with a 113-9 DT. 
    On the track Katie Robben ran 59.6 to win the 400 with Mott second (60.6), and Laurie Hildebrand (St. John) won the 3200 in 13:08.9.  Anna Perry (Garden Plain) won the 100H at 16.9 and Camille Kahrs (Dexter) won the 300H in 50.5.
   Greensburg won the 4 x 100 at 53.1, edging St. Mary's 53.2, and took the 4 x 400 (4:21.31). Garden Plain dominated the 4 x 800, running a fine 10:04.1 to win by almost a minute.
    Garden Plain dominated the team scoring, winning with 132 points, with Greensburg second with 81 and St. Mary's third with 57.5.
