Massillon Jackson High School put three in the top five to beat two-time defending state girls champ Bowling Green in the Avon Lake Early Bird Invitational at Lorain County Community College. Jackson's top three were third, fourth and fifth as the Bears edged Bowling Green, 41-49, in the 18-team field. Rocky River Magnificat was third with 108.
Jackson, fourth in 2004 state meet, is the first Ohio team in almost two years to beat Bowling Green; the last was Centerville in the 2003 Tiffin Carnival.
Emily Infeld of Cleveland Heights Beaumont won the 5,000 meter race over a soft, muddy course in 19:05. Christy Titus led Bowling Green with a second place finish in 19:36.
