1. York, IL - York decimated the competition at their conference meet this past weekend, placing their top seven runners in the top ten of the results.  York competed at the West Suburban Silver Meet, tallying 23 points and beating runner-up Downers Grove North by 47 points.  York looked strong, with senior Eric Dettman winning the individual title in 15:09 over the three mile course.  York's 1-5 split was a strong 45 seconds, while their 1-7 split was 58 seconds.  Junior Nick Kuczwara continues to improve from an injury over the summer, as he moved up to finish as their fourth man, finishing in 15:33.
Next Meet: Saturday, Proviso West Regional - Will face MW #4 Glenbard South.
1. Eric Dettman - 15:09
3. Matt Dettman - 15:21
5. David Montgomery - 15:24

2. Warren Central, IN - Warren Central won the Franklin Central Regional (5k) in grand fashion, as they continued their winning ways in Indiana, scoring 37 points and placing their top six runners in the top 18 spots.  Central outran IN #10 Perry Meridian and outscored the runner-up team by 39 points.  Junior De'Sean Turner led the way once again and remained the state meet favorite, as he won the race in a strong 15:13.  Central also had two other top five finishers in junior Ondraius Richardson (15:58) and senior Tim Armstrong (15:59).  This 1-3 combination up front may very well be the top one in the Midwest and one of the best ones nationally.  Central's 1-5 split was 1:20, but if you look at their 2-6 split it is less than 45 seconds.
Next Race: Saturday, Indianapolis Semi-State - This is the hardest pre-state, state-series meet maybe in the ENTIRE nation.  The top five teams in Indiana will be in this race, as well as two other top ten teams.  MW #3 Carmel and MW #6 Columbus North will be competing.

3. Carmel, IN - Carmel won the Noblesville Regional (5k, rolling) just barely, as they beat IN #3 Hamilton Southeastern on the sixth man tie-breaker, as both teams scored 55 points.  Carmel always has a strong pack, but on Saturday it was nearly not enough, as Carmel's sixth finished only two spots ahead of Southeastern's.  Will Peters led the charge for his team, finishing third, and bouncing back from a sub-par conference meet last weekend versus MW #2 Warren Central.  Carmel ran very tough up front, placing three runners in the top eight, but had a slight drop after that, as their 4-7 runners all placed between 17-27.  Their 1-5 split was 54 seconds, and their 1-7 split was over a minute.
Next Race: Saturday, Indianapolis Semi-State - This is the hardest pre-state, state-series meet maybe in the ENTIRE nation.  The top five teams in Indiana will be in this race, as well as two other top ten teams.  MW #2 Warren Central and MW #6 Columbus North will be competing.  This race will be a war.

5. Whitefish Bay, WI - Whitefish Bay, finally running at full strength for the first time in about a month, won their conference meet decisevely.  Running on their very tough conference course, WFB scored a mere 25 points, easily outdistacing second place Port Washington by 44 points.  Whitefish Bay had a nice 1-5 split of 43 seconds.  Steve Markson won the individual crown to lead Bay, as he ran 16:33 on a very windy Saturday.
Next Meet: Saturday, State qualifying round 1.

Next Race: Saturday, Indianapolis Semi-State - This is the hardest pre-state, state-series meet maybe in the ENTIRE nation.  The top five teams in Indiana will be in this race, as well as two other top ten teams.  MW #2 Warren Central and MW #3 Carmel will be competing.

7. LaSalle, OH - LaSalle won their league meet in convincing fashion over a strong St. Xavier team, 20-48, as they prepare for the state meet qualifiers now.  Kyle Lang and Corey Spriggs led the way for LaSalle, as they placed their top five in the top eight and because they are such a pack oriented team, they had a mere 37 second split between their top five runners, and only 25 seconds between their top four runners.  It was a very solid showing for the LaSalle team on the 5k course.

8. Dexter, MI - Dexter won the big Gabriel Richard Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, winning the team title over previoulsy ranked Pinckney 40-69, as Dexter's top runners ran very well over the 5k course.  Dexter was led by junior Dan Jackson, who ran 15:58 to take home the individual crown, while sophomore teammate Bobby April took second in 16:14.  Dexter placed their top five in the top 21 positions, but had a large 1-5 split of 1:16.  Dexter is a young team, with their top four runners being two juniors, a sophomore and a freshman, so as the state meet draws near, it will be interesting to see how they respond to the pressure that the state meet brings to the top teams.  Dexter averaged over twenty seconds faster per scorer than Pinckney and strong third place finisher Ann Arbor Pioneer.
