The TEXAS GREATEST ATHLETE Decathlon & Heptathlon meet was held on June 3rd and 4th at St. Mark's School of Texas in Dallas, Texas. This year there were two divisions, an Elite Division and a High School Division.
The Decathlon-Elite DIvision was won by Mike Marsh with a score of 7,431 points. The Decathlon-High School Division was won by Shawn Schmidt (St. Mark's) with a score of 7,197 points. This is a new School Record and Texas State Record (using H. S. implements). This breaks the previous Texas State Record of 6800 set by Adam Fretwell in 2003. This score is believed to be the best score in the United States this year.
The Heptathlon-Elite Division was won by Jackie Poulson with a score of 5,524 points. The Heptathlon-High School Division was won by Sallie Armstrong (St. John's) with a score of 4,029.
