SO#1/US#14 Flower Mound TX was unchallenged in capturing the first two team spots in the Grace Prep XC Relay. This event consist of 3-person teams with each running a 2-mile leg. Will next face a very strong Dallas-area field at the Marcus I Invite on Sept 3.

SO#2/US#21 A&M Consolidated TX raced 2 miles at the Lockhart Invite. The host Lockhart team, a 4A power, won 35-39 on the strength of better head-to-head finishes at the 3 & 4 spots. A&M travels to the Kingwood Invite on Sept 3rd to face other South ranked teams including Kingwood in a key early season matchup. Lockhart will take the week off.

SO#3 The Woodlands TX was soundly beaten at its own invite by SO#9 Cinco Ranch TX and also unranked Cedar Park TX. The Woodlands sr Daniel Gerber was an easy winner, but Cinco packed 3 in the top 5 on the way to victory. The Woodlands will be at the Montgomery Invite on Sept 3rd, Cinco Ranch is scheduled to be at Kingwood and Cedar Park hosts an invitational.

SO#4 Marcus TX and SO#6 Southlake Carroll TX raced at the Greenhill Relays. This meet features 4-man teams running a total of 6 miles. Each man runs a leg and hands off a glove to the next runner. Unranked Fort Worth North Side edged Southlake Carroll 32:07 to 32:08 followed by Coppell in 32:15 and Marcus in 32:17. Next week Marcus will host its big Marcus I Invitational.

SO#5 Corpus Christi King TX was impressive at the Miller Citgo Invite with a 1-2-3-5-6-7-9 finish for 17 points. This follows a perfect 15 at the San Benito Dog Pound Invite on Aug 20 with a :46 second 1-5 split. Will be at the Moody Invite on Sept 3.

SO#7 Humble TX was off this week. Will be at Kingwood on Sept 3.

SO#8 Kingwood TX competed in the University of Houston Cougar Classic. This meet consists of separate races by grade over 2 miles. Kingwood did particularly well at the Junor and Sophomore levels. The combined race results give Kingwood a 27-80 win over unranked Mayde Creek. On Sept 3rd Kingwood hosts its Andy Wells Invite.

SO#10 Fayetteville AR hasnít started its season yet. Latest news is that soph sensation Aaron Hamilton (4th at State as a freshman) has moved and will be running for Rogers AR this year.

Other results:
Edinburgh North TX won the PSJA North Invite in a battle of South Texas powers. PSJA was a close 2nd with 47 followed by home team PSJA North with 60.

Jenks OK won the 2-mile Guthrie Cottonwood Flats meet with 34 points over long-time rival Edmond Memorial with 65 and Tulsa Union with 85.

The season will be starting soon in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

 

Girls


SO#1/US#6 Southlake Carroll TX won the Greenhill Relays which is a 4-person relay consisting of 1.5 mile legs. SO#3 Marcus TX and SO#4 Keller TX were well back, but held out some key runners. Next up for all three is the Marcus I Invite featuring its traditional top-notch field.

SO#2/US#9 Kingwood TX raced at the U of Houston Cougar Classic which has separate 2-mile races by grade. Kingwood won every grade classification including perfect scores in the Senior and Junior races. The combined race results show Kingwood scoring 21 overall. Kingwood hosts its Andy Wells Invite on Sept 3.

SO#5 Cedar Park TX, SO#6 The Woodlands TX and SO#8 Cinco Ranch TX looked to be evenly matched at The Woodlands Invite and that was the case. The Woodlands took their home opener with 56 points led by sr Cheryl Spring in 2nd over Cinco Ranch with 64 and Cedar Park with 79. The Woodlands and Cinco Ranch will next travel to the Kingwood Invite on Sept 3rd while Cedar Park hosts an invitational.

SO#7 Canyon TX kicks off its season at the Borger Invite on Sept 3rd.

SO#9 Tupelo MS has not started its season yet.

SO#10 Mustang OK has not started its season yet.
