And we thought the only big race in Texas this past weekend was down
in Flower Mound at the Marcus I Invitational.
We thought wrong. The Big State has so much dominance in not only the
region, but also in the U.S. as a whole. Here in
Kingwood, we saw SO#8 Kingwood boys take down SO#2/US#21
A&M Consolidated by almost 20 points. The
Mustangs put a tight pack of 5 runners in the top 11 spots, led by 4th
place finisher Jordan Vetitoe. The time spread was an amazing 17 seconds
from 1st to 5th man!!! The consolation for A&M was the individual
victory of Duncan Phillips in a solid time of 15:22, followed by his
teammate Dusty Langwell in 2nd (15:39). Kingwood not only took out the
Tigers from
College Station, but also SO#7 Humble. The Wildcats from Humble had a
rough day also falling to unranked Mayde Creek.
In the girls event, SO#2/US#9 Kingwood completes the day with a victory
over SO#6 Woodlands. The losing team
here as well gets some pride out of their individual victory from Cheryl
Spring (17:45). The 42 second spread of the Lady
Mustangs was led by 2nd place finisher Danielle
Selner (17:50). Is Kingwood
High School the new Woodlands?
