Unfortunately the big news was the cancellation of the Nike South Invite and several other meets due to the approach of Hurricane Katrina.

SO#1/US#14 Flower Mound TX was off this week.

SO#2/US#20 Corpus Christi King TX did not run this week as the University of Texas-San Antonio Invite was cancelled due to Hurricane Katrina.

#3 Cinco Ranch TX, #4 Kingwood TX, #6 Cedar Park TX, #7 The Woodlands TX and #8 Marcus TX did not run this week as the Nike South Invite was cancelled due to Hurricane Katrina.
Next: Cinco Ranch, Kingwood and Cedar Park travel to the McNeil Invite, The Woodlands will be at the Aldine Invite and Marcus will be at the Keller Invite.

#5 A&M Consolidated TX was off this week.

#9 Southlake Carroll TX entered the Azle Invite after the Nike South cancellation. They chose to split into 2 equal teams so officially they ìlostî to Fort Worth Boswell 68-68 on the 6th man tie-breaker. However they would have won with 28 points if they had grouped their top 7 together. Southlake Carroll soph Colby Lowe continued his unbeaten and untested streak with a 14:27 win.

Mustang OK, led by individual winner jr Kevin Schwab in 16:27 for 5000m and 4 in the top 10, took the Edmond Dog Pack run 42-82 over host Edmond Memorial OK. Westmoore Ok was 3rd with 105.

Russellville AR captured the team title at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Invite with 38 points over runner-up Bryant AR with 72.

Rogers AR won the Siloam Springs Invite over Bentonville AR 37-52. Rogers soph Aaron Hamilton remained undefeated in leading his team to a 1-2-7-12-15 finish.

Tupelo MS dominated at the Mississippi State University Invite. Defending state 5A champ (4 in a row) Tupelo defeated state 4A champ (6 in a row) Pearl MS 20-60 and was tightly packed at 2-3-4-5-6 behind winner and defending state 5A titlelist Madison Central sr Daniel Simpkins.

Broken Arrow OK won the Holland Hall Invite 44-52 over Jenks OK.

SO#1/US#6 Southlake Carroll TX ran the Azle Invite after Nike South was called off. They split into 2 equal teams which ended up 1-2 in the team scoring. They would have scored 21 points if they had run their top 7 together. Southlake Carroll sr Brooke Upshaw won in 11:17 over her freshman sister Tara in 11:58 while sr Miranda Walker rested a sore foot.

#8 Tupelo MS won Mississippi State University Invite in the 1st big meet in the state this season. Tupelo outscored longtime rival Pearl 20-66 with Tupelo jr Claire Corban taking the individual title and leading a 1-2-4-6-7 finish.

Bryant AR won the team crown at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Invite 29-79 over runner-up Russellville AR. Defending 5A state champ Jonesboro AR sr Leigh Ann Moore took the individual title in 19:43 for 5000m over state 2A champ Carlisle soph Emily Carpenter in 19:50.

Belton TX won the title at the Waxahachie Indian Run 39-88 over McKinney North TX. Belton put 5 in the top 11 to overcome a 1-2-3 by McKinney North.

Jenks OK took the Holland Hall Invite with 38 points on the strength of a 2-3-5-10-18 finish.

Bentonville AR captured the Siloam Springs Invite 37-40 in a close battle with Rogers AR. Bentonville went 2-3-4-6-22 to best Rogerís 5-7-8-9-11.
