SO#1/US#20 Corpus Christi King TX split into two teams for the Carroll Invitational and ended up 1st and 3rd. King sr Ari Perez won the individual title in 15:16 and was followed by teammates in 2-3-4-9. This top 5 had a 44 second spread and would have scored 19 points if combined. King ran without normal #2 man T K Revis who was taking the SAT.

SO#3 Cedar Park TX captured the Cy Fair Invite with 38 points over runner-up 4A state #4 ranked Klein Oak with 56. Cedar Park sr Jon Wrobleski took 1st overall

SO#4 Cinco Ranch TX, SO#5 A&M Consolidated TX and SO#8 Kingwood TX clashed at the Humble Invite on Friday. Cinco Ranchís top 4 ran together and finished 4-5-6-7 to lead the team to victory with 33 points over A&M in the runner-up spot with 53 points. Kingwood was not at full strength with some runners held out this week and ended up 3rd with 85. A&M jr Duncan Phillips was the individual champ in 15:13. Humble sr Scott Zivick led at the mile in 4:41 with Phillips on his shoulder. Phillips made his move and led at 2 miles 9:35 to 9:44.

A&M Consolidate coach Mike Skinner said, "Phillips and our top guys were stronger this week (compared to an off day at McNeil last week). I realized that we had run mile repeats in 100+ degrees last week and it affected our performance. We've shifted to running our workouts in the morning."

Next: Cinco Ranch and Kingwood are off while A&M hosts the James Giese Invitational.

SO#6 The Woodlands TX did not compete this week, but did run their annual inter-squad Red-Green 3200 time trial on the track. Sr Daniel Gerber had a fine 9:07 effort as the team had 7 under 10:00. Coach Dan Green reports, "29 boys PR'd for 3200. Last week's effort (a win at Aldine) and this week's have the coaches smiling. The team is improving and that is what we want at this time of the year."

SO#7 Marcus TX hosted the Marcus II Invite and came away with a tight 82-88 win over 4A state ranked #1 Fort Worth Northside. Marcus was led by sr Jake Cosby in 7th and sr Zack Legg in 9th. Northside's Armando Saldivar grabbed individual gold edging Planoís Brian Lind as both clocked 15:27.

SO#10 Tupelo MS dominated the Mississippi College Invite with 4 in the top 5 and a total of 22 points to solidify its status as favorite to capture a 6th consecutive 5A state title. West Monroe LA edged 4A power Pearl MS 70-71 for 2nd. Tupelo soph Rob Ellis was the individual champ in 16:21 for 5000m followed closely by teammate Tupelo jr Drew Kellum in 16:23. The Tupelo averaged 16:33 for 5000m with a 39 second spread.

Brother Martin LA struck gold at the prestigious Catholic High Invite in Baton Rouge 93-148 over host Catholic HS. Choudrant LA soph Kasey Baker covered the 3 mile course in 15:12 for the win over Br Martin sr Andy Florek, the #2 state returner. Br Martin is located in New Orleans so the school and part of the team have relocated to Baton Rouge due to hurricane and flood damage. Br Martin coach Dennis Panepinto reports, "Running gives the boys something to do and keeps their minds off of their homes. We still have a long way to go and we don't have the depth that we normally do. We should be back at our school in New Orleans by January 1st."

Del Rio TX produced a perfect 15 at its home invitational to remain unbeaten. Led by Danny Ponce with a new course record 15:32.

Mustang OK won the ORU Invite on the state meet course in a close 52-55 finish over Jenks OK. Mustang jr Kevin Schwab remans unbeaten with his 16:04 win. Mustang finished 1-8-12-14-18 with a 17:11 average for 5000m. Jenks was 3-10-11-14-17 with a 17:20 average.

Rogers AR took the Van Buren Invite with 27 points over host Van Buren with 86. Rogers was led by the 1-2 finish of unbeaten soph Aaron Hamilton in 16:34 and jr Erik Molina in 16:36 and had a 54 second 1-5 spread.

Russellville AR wins a squeaker 81-85 over Conway AR at the Lake Hamilton Invite on the state meet course. Bryant AR was 3rd with 102. Lake Hamilton sr Alex Bearden in 16:19 and jr Josh Brewer in 16:23 finish 1-2 ahead of top state returner Conway sr Raven Fuller in 16:32 for 3rd. Both Bearden and Brewer improved by about a minute over their times on this course at State last year.

Broken Arrow OK scored 45 to take the Oklahoma Baptist University Invite over Edmond North with 95.

SO#1/US#6 Southlake Carroll TX was off this week.

SO#2/US#9 Kingwood TX with 31 points and an 11:14 average bested SO#8 Cinco Ranch with 56 and SO#6 Clear Lake TX with 68 at the Humble Invite. Kingwood TX sr Danielle Selner ran a sparkling 10:51 for 3200m ahead of runner-up and teammate Lauren Brady in 11:10. Kingwood coach John Barr pointed out that this was the 1st time in a while that the team ran 3200 (the official girls distance in Texas). Cinco Ranch coach Kristi Lancaster said, "We ran OK. Our normal #1 girl is nursing a sore leg and ran 3rd man today." Clear Lake coach James Menze noted, "I was surprised by the fast times. However, this is the first nice weather day (cool) for running weíve had this season."

Next: Kingwood is off, Cinco Ranch travels to the Chile Pepper Invite in Arkansas and Clear Lake runs at Clear Creek.

SO#5 Marcus TX won its own Marcus II Invite 31-62 over 3A state ranked #2 Decatur. Western Hills' Kerry Seaver grabbed the individual crown in 11:36 followed by the 2-3 finish by Marcus teammates Alyssa Dooley in 11:38 and Amanda Merrill in 11:40. Marcus put a total of 5 in the top 10 to beat Decatur's 3 in the top 6.

SO#7 Cedar Park TX took the team title at the Cy Fair Invite 49-71 over Cy Fair. Cedar Park sr Katie Weise continued her strong campaign with the individual gold in 11:46 followed by sr teammate Heather Bullin in 12:06 for 2nd.

SO#9 Tupelo MS secured 5 of the top 9 spots to total 22 points for the Mississippi College Watson Quality Ford Invite team title. Pontotoc MS was 2nd with 63 followed by Pearl MS with 87. Pass Christian MS 8th grader Cory McGee was an impressive winner in 14:44 for 4000m. Tupelo MS jr Claire Corban continued her fine season with a 2nd place 15:08 while her jr teammate and 2-time defending state champ Emily Crow was 3rd in 15:37. Tupelo averaged 15:41 for 4K with a spread of 57 seconds.

SO#10 Bishop McGuinness won the 4A division of the ORU Invite with 44 points and a 13:08 average for 2 miles. Meanwhile, Jenks captured the 5A division with 79 points and a 12:53 average over Westmoore with 100 points and a 13:04 avg, Tulsa Union with 129 points and a 13:22 avg and Mustang with 157 and a 13:27 avg.

Other results:

Canyon TX snared the team title at the Buffalo Stampede at West Texas A&M. Canyon scored 23 points and was led by individual champ jr Lauren Simpson in 11:54 for 2 miles.

Bryant AR packs 5 in the top 13 to claim the team trophy 43-53 over runner-up Russellville AR at the Lake Hamilton Invite on the state meet course. Defending 5A state champ Jonesboro sr Leigh Ann Moore takes the title in 19:44. Chelsea Weaver of Monticello grabs 2nd in 19:56.

Episcopal LA was victorius at the Catholic High Invite in Baton Rouge 55-65 over St Josephís. St. Thomas Aquinas sr Whitney Curry crushed the meet record with a 17:28 clocking for 3 miles.

Edmond North tallied 75 to win the Oklahoma Baptist University Invite over Broken Arrow with 83.

Rogers AR scored a perfect 15 at the Van Buren Invite going 1-7. Led by jr Rachel Conley with individual gold in 20:18.
