Preview - Cowboy Jamboree - McNeil - Top 10 Scoreboard -

Top ranked The Woodlands TX boys and Kingwood TX girls roll on.

The McNeil Invite in Round Rock, TX had great matchups with 8 South ranked teams and the #1 Southeast girls team. The girls from US#9 SO#1 Kingwood TX dominated with 38 points . US#14 SO#4 Cedar Park TX took the boys title with 118.

The 68th Annual Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State University drew strong teams from AR, KS, MO, OK and TX. Emporia KS, previously ranked in the Heartland region, took the boys race while SO#8 The Woodlands TX captured the girls crown.

#1 The Woodlands TX won the Aldine Invite convincingly with 21 points. The team averaged 15:49 on this 5K course. Sr Daniel Lanzillotti returned after missing Nike South last week with a sore ankle to finish 2nd to teammate jr Daniel Gerber. Coach Dan Green says the team seemed a bit flat which is understandable after the big Nike South win last week. Back in action at the Humble Invite on Friday.

2. Flower Mound TX – off this past weekend.

#3 Kingwood TX, #4 Cedar Park TX and #5 Cinco Ranch Katy TX met at the McNeil Invite on the Texas state meet course at Old Settlers Park. The course was hit with heavy rains which made some areas very muddy. Cedar Park emerged victorius with a great 22 second 1-5 split and 5 in before runner-up Kingwood’s 4th and 3rd place Cinco Ranch’s #3 man. Kingwood and Cinco Ranch will be at the Humble Invite on Friday. Cedar Park will be at the Cy Fair meet on Friday.

#6 Marcus Flower Mound TX – idle this past week. They host the Marcus II Invite this Saturday.

#7 Carroll Southlake TX won the Islander Splash Invite hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. They scored 23 which included a 1-2-3 finish. This meet was held at West Guth Park and the course is hilly according to race director Shawn Flanagan. Carroll is taking this weekend off.

#1 Kingwood TX, #2 Highland Park Dallas TX, #4 Cedar Park TX and #7 Georgetown TX

#1 Kingwood TX, #2 Highland Park Dallas TX, #4 Cedar Park TX and #7 Georgetown TX competed in the Gold Division of the McNeil Invite. Kingwood was first with a very strong 39 point performance including 4 in the top 8 and all 5 scorers in the top 17. Kingwood fr Megan Munoz in 4th led them to a 19:07 average in muddy conditions. Cedar Park finished 2nd with 66, previously undefeated Highland Park was 3rd with 81, unranked A&M Consolidated led by individual winner Jocelyn Gardner was 4th with 106, and SE#1 Our Lady of Lourdes FL 5th with 159. Georgetown ended up 7th.

#6 Tupelo MS ran the Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville, AL and placed 3rd behind SE#3 St. Paul’s Mobile AL and SE#5 Scottsboro AL. The race featured five 2003 state champion teams from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee. Laurel Pritchard of Vestavia Hills won the individual title with a time of 18:16. Claire Corban was the top Tupelo finisher in 19:20 for 9th place. Tupelo runs at the Mississippi College Invite this Saturday in a preview of the state meet course.

They were led by sr Cheryl Spring who captured the individual gold with the #4 performance ever on this course. The team had a very good 11:49 average over 3200m. Running at the Humble Invite this Friday.
