SO#1 The Woodlands TX won the Montgomery Invite with a perfect score. They’ve scored 15, 16 and now 15 in their three invites this season. Their 5th man beat Friendswood TX sr Jeremy Ellis this week – he’s the one that broke up their top 5 last week at Kingwood. The Woodlands top five ran together through 2 miles then Gerber reeled off a quick last mile for the win. Will be tested at the Nike South meet on Sept 25.

SO#3 Cedar Park TX won easily at the Zilker Park Invite in Austin. They packed it up and ran together through 2 miles on the way to a 1-2-3-4-5 finish. Very good 1-5 splits their first 3 meets. Scheduled to compete at the Klein Oak Invite on Friday.

SO#4 PSJA North TX ran at the Edinburg Invite. They were 2nd to Edinburg North for the 2nd week in a row. Edinburg North is looking very good with their top 2 close to La Joya sr Idilio Campos who was 17th at state as a soph. PSJA North is expecting injured #1 returner Juan Jose Hernandez (Sr, #7 state returner) to return from an injury soon. These two District 31 teams will battle all year. It will only get tighter when Hernandez returns.

SO#9 Cinco Ranch TX scored 46 to take the Brenham Hillacious Invite over Klein’s 79. Klein was out fast early with jr Hank Vera leading the race. Cinco’s pack of 4 cruised in the high teens nearing the mile. Dobie Pasadena soph Josh Pantoya took the lead shortly after the mile on a long grade. He looked strong throughout the race and won in 15:51. Cinco’s pack moved up and ended up with 3 in the top 10. Division II winner Elgin jr Alfredo Soto ran 16:02 for the 2nd best overall time.

Brother Martin New Orleans LA had a fine showing at the Mobile (AL) Challenge of Champions. They scored 60 to finish behind SE#4 Collins Hill Suwanee GA’s 23. This followed last week’s Br. Martin title over a strong Louisiana field at the Bayou Boogie Invite.

SO#7 Klein TX ran the Brenham Invite and lost a close battle with Cinco Ranch 44 to 46. Klein sr Kelcee Keenan got her 1 st win of the year. Klein was leading up the last long, steep hill within 400 of the finish, but the Cinco Ranch girls charged uphill and made some key passes for the victory.
