2004 cross country River Hill boys, C. Milton Wright girls tabbed as all-class #1by Donnie Mickey, MDrunning BoysBoys: All Classes
Top Individuals: Ricky Flynn of Damascus, Andrew Jesien of Walter Johnson, Zach Martinez of Gaithersburg, and Will Eden of Annapolis Team Summary: River Hill (3a) returns the states best 1-2 combo, and should have better luck going after the state title this fall. Gaithersburg, Centennial, and Northwest could take over the top spot if River Hill falters. The boys race this year in Maryland will be a close one as most of the teams return 5 of last season’s top 7. One of the best races in Maryland will be the battle between Flynn, last years state 4a xc champ, Jesien of WJ, and Martinez of Gaithersburg. These 3 went at it several times last year with a different one winning each time. GirlsGirls: All Classes
Top Individuals: Ashlyn and Halsey Sinclair of Blair, Kelli Buck, Allison Barnes, and Megan Ravenscraft from C. Milton Wright, Lauren Capone of Towson, and Trisha Repsher of Westminster. The girl’s team race will depend on if the C. Milton Wright girl’s team falters. The C. Milton team returns its entire team which includes Allison Barnes the defending 3a state xc champ, Kelli Buck 2 time 3a state 1600 meter champ with a pr of 5:02, Megan Ravenscraft is CMW’s #3 runner and she has run 5:08. If CMW should happen to fall look for last years surprise team Eleanor Roosevelt or traditional powers Severna Park and Northwest to take over the top spot. The individual race is a big one Ashlyn and Halsey Sinclair of Blair will race Trisha Repsher of Westminster for the 4a title. In 3a it should come down to Allison Barnes of CMW, Kelli Buck of CMW, Megan Ravenscraft of CMW, teaming up to take on Lauren Capone of Towson.
