3000: Jake Walker (Ellwood City) 8:42.8 US#1
PV: Sean Gil (N Allegehny) 15”0”
Summary: Where to begin? Distance or throws? The US#1 or the US#3. OK... we'll start with the US#1 3000 put down by last year's indoor state champ and record holder, Jake Walker of Ellwood City. An 8:42.8 is smokin', anytime of year, but especially in mid-January and especially at Slippery Rock.

The US#3: Looks like defending indoor and outdoor Shot Put champ Karen Shump of Penncrest has some great competition this year, again, from western PA. Center's Allyn Laughlin took over the top spot in PA and US#3 with a throw of 45-07. Hempfield's Samantha Fetter wasn't far behind, tossing 44-01 for PA#3, and her teammate, Kimberly Kanala also was over 40 feet again with a throw of 40-00.75.

Jess Zozos, Shaler, went 10:33.5 for a fast 3000. Just behind at 10:47.9 was Penn Trafford's Diana Filtz. Filtz also won the Mile, going 5:23.2. North Allegheny's Sean Gilv cleared 15-0 in the Pole Vault for the 2nd time this season.

Bible Baptist's Brandon Tress has been traveling all across the state to find challenges, and found one again, this time from Norristown's Peter Shelby. Tress went 7.82 to win the 55 Hurdles by .18 over Shelby.
Exeter's Travis Savidge went 43-08.50 in the Triple Jump, a half inch better than Cedar Cliff's Andy Maxwell, and 2.25 inches better than Wilson's Jay Whalen.
