Renegade Golf Course in Riverton, WY~ 10/26/02~ elev. 5500ft.~temp. in 30-40's

In the boys 4A, Andrew Jones of Gillette once again thrashed everyone and in the process set a new state record by 20+ seconds with a 15:54.76 5k! Second place was Noce Nayigihugu of Laramie with a 16:35. Third place went to T.J. Goddard, also of Gillette, with a 16:37. Gillette boys won with only 25 points taking 1-3-4-7-10!

In the girls 4A race, Sara Balfour of Natrona High School ran a very impressive race winning by 35 seconds with an 18:22.21 5k (barely behind Alicia Craig's record of 18:20.75 set her senior year when she went on to run a 17:36 5k to win the Footlocker Western regionals)! Second was Gretchen Fagley with a 18:57.58. Gillette girls won again for the 8th consecutive year with 56 points.
