Part 2 - the races

Races start at 9 a.m.and finish at 4 p.m. and run the age range. They start with grades 3-6 and move up the grades to JV, then the varsity races and finish with adults. It's a busy day filled with challenge, smiles, tears and a lot of fun packed in. There is a good feeling-a family oriented feeling-in the air with groups of all ages mingling about, visiting and enjoying the scene. There is lots of food including a soda fountain on the edge of the park. Although very complex in format, the meet is very well run and is staffed with really nice people who know their stuff. The finish line job was a tough one. Runners wear no bibb numbers. As runners come in, volunteers take names and school affiliation on cards that ultimately form the results lists. But the well designed shoot and good volunteers kept things in order.
