Deep Creek sr Derron Flood 1:04.09 improved on his US#1 time and needed every inch to outkick Atlee sr Anthony Easter 1:04.36, who took the lead with 200 meters to go and finished as the second fastest in the US this year.

Flood and Easter shared a long, obviously sincere embrace after the race. When Flood pulled a hamstring later in the 4x400 relay, Easter was one of the first to his side. "That's my boy," Easter said of Flood.
