Tuesday, December 17, 2002 - Philadelphia Catholic League Girls' Meet #1
@ Haverford College - West Catholic sopomore Nicole Leach won two of the
three short sprints at the first PCL Girls' meet of the season, going
8.5 in the 55 Hurdles and capturing the 200 by almost a second over
teammate Latavia Thomas in 25.8. Cardlinal O'Hara showed its distance
depth, getting individual wins from Erin Kelly in the 800 (2:26.0) and
Mary Debevec in the Mile (5:38.5); plus taking the 4x800 in 10:33.5 and
the DMR in 12:58.8. Archbishop Ryan triple jumper Denise Tetkowski
lauched her season well, winning by nearly four feet with a leap of
35-08.

Wednesday, December 18, 2002 - Philadelphia Catholic League Boys' Meet
#1 @ Haverford College - LaSalle's Bruce Pohlet bettered his outdoor PCL
championship effort by six inches, taking the Shot Put competition by
over five feet with a throw of 54-05. Steve Hallinan, Cardinal O'Hara,
and Tim O'Neil, St. Joe's Prep,battled in a fast early season mile, with
Hallinan gaining the win by .6 with a 4:28.6. Teammate Mike Callanan
took the 3000 in 9:11.9. LaSalle junior Chris Ross went 2:02.1 in the
800.

Friday, December 20, 2002 - DVGTCA Meet #3 @ Ursinus College -
Hatboro-Horsham's Janine Ricci already has a fast 3000, and now she's
posted an attention-getting Mile, going 5:06.3 to hold off St. Basil
sophomore Lynn Morelli, 5:08.9. Ricci's teammate, Caitlin Klaas, showed
some nice speed for a soph, winning the 800 in 2:18.2. Jamie Taggart,
North Penn, was 2nd in 2:19.8. Christina Smith warmed up Friday night
for the trip to NYC Saturday by winning the 55 Hurdles in 8.4. Nicole
Leach, West Catholic, was clocked in the same time. She also took the
300 yard run in a fast 36.3. West Catholic sophomore LaTavia Thomas went
600 yards in 1:27.3. Archbishop Ryan captured the 4x200 in 1:47.1.

Saturday, December 21, 2002 - TFCAGP Division 1 Meet #3 @ Haverford
College - Steve Hallinan went negative after an opening 4:50 mile and
pulled away to an indoor PR of 8:58.2 in the 3000. North Penn's 4x800 is
baaaaack, and they went 8:12.9 to get 1st. Their 4x400 also won, going
3:31.8. Kennelly, Neshaminy, long-jumped 21-10-1/2.

Saturday, December 21, 2002 - TFCAGP Division 2 Meet #3 @ Haverford
College - Oxford's Drew Eckman set a meet record in the 400 with his
50.5. Harriton's Dan Engle tied the meet record in the 60 meter dash,
going 7.1. The Upper Dublin quartet of Sean Clark, Eric Bowles, Matt
Fisher and Matt Lawson pulled away late from Great Valley to take the
DMR in 11:03.2. Springfield (Montco)'s Mark Korich took the 800 in
2:00.8. And the Upper Dublin frosh/soph 4x200 team set a meet record,
going 1:44.3.

Saturday, December 21, 2002 - Dickinson College Invitational - An
invasion by Maryland schools added to the strong early season
performances. Frederick (MD)'s Imani White tied a meet record with a 6.9
in the 55 dash, then came back to win the 200 in 26.5. In the 55
Hurdles, Emily Lepley of Lewistown went 8.3, tops in PA so far. For the
boys, Central Dauphin's Ryan Whitiny won the shot with a throw of
55-04.50. Donegal's Andrew Miller took the 55 Hurdles in 7.5, edging
Ronnie Beard of Frederick (MD), who had the same time. Harrisburg's Rome
Potts captured both the 55 in 6.4 and the 200 in 23.8. Central Dauphin's
Jamel James won the Long Jump with a leap of 21-03.75.

Saturday, December 21, 2002 - TSTCA Holiday Classic @ University of
Pittsburgh - For the first time in 30 years, Ohio and West Virginia
teams joined Pennsylvania teams at the annual December meet by the
TSTCA. Running in yards, Central Catholic's Kareen Cousar went 23.9 for
220, while Butler's Krystal Epps went 58.8 for 440. Butler's girls and
boys each took a relay, 10:33.6 4x880 for the girls, and 8:45.4 for the
same distance for the boys.
