SUMMARY:

The storm arrived much earlier than predicted (by about 6-7 hours) in
the Philadelphia area, but by that time, most of the athletes and
coaches were well on their way to Lehigh University. The snow held off
in southern Lehigh County where the meet was held, but meantime back in
Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties, it was near
whiteout conditions by noon. Those conditions led PCL officials to
postpone the meet. In events completed, Nicole Leach, West Catholic, was
off to a great start, taking the 60 in 7.84 and the 400 in 56.95. She
also helped her 800 meter relay team get 2nd in 1:45.05 to Archbishop
Ryan's 1:44.12. Teammate Latavia Thomas was 2nd in the 400 in 57.89.
Ryan's Denise Tetkowski took the Long Jump with a leap of 17-10.50, and
had the 4th fastest time in the 60 Hurdles trials, which were suspended.
In addition to the events mentioned, only the Mile, DMR, High Jump and
Pole Vault were completed. The Shot Put finals were set to begin when
the meet ended. In the boys' competition, O'Hara's Bob McDade captured
the Shot Put with a throw of 52-09.75. Juan Cave, St. Joseph's Prep,
cleared 6-04 in the High Jump. Seven events were completed, with the
Trials of the 60 Dash and 60 Hurdles, as well.
