The 2nd Annual Hillcat XC Invitational took place October-8th-2002, hosted by Hillsboro-Deering High School in Hillsboro, NH. On an exact, but fairly flat, 5,000m course. Records were smashed in both the boys' and girls' races in the cold sub-50 degree October chill. Hillsboro-Deering (NH) Senior, Zach Emerson, in his first race back from a mid-season abdominal injury, eclipsed his own CR by 42 seconds with a blazing 15:35 win over Brian Oliver of Belmont High (16:14). Sophomore Andrea Walkenon of Conant High broke the girl’s CR by 33 seconds with her 19:46 win over Jamie Bemis of Bow (19:54). In both races Bow won the team competition over Belmont with thin margins. There was 90 finishers in the boys’ race and 59 in the girls’.
