Cardinal Gibbons boys 25 win eighth straight year in 3A as Freddy Torres 15:32 wins and leads three more in top five. Providence Day 39 wins 3A girls over 4-time defending champ Cardinal Gibbons, with Forsyth Country Day soph Elizabeth Bruce 18:27 the individual winner. In 2A/1A, Brenna Burns 18:18 (fastest of day) leads Carolina Day girls to 19-point score.

3A Boys:
Cardinal Gibbons' boys dominate the field with a 39 point victory over Providence Day. With a 68 second spread, Gibbons averaged 16:16 even with Nick Sunseri-who was battling a fever--running a sub-par 16:21. Gibbons put four runners in the top five with their fifth man running 16:40 for 12th place. Without Sunseri, the individual title became a two-man show between Gibbon's Fredy Torres and Providence Day's John Compton. Torres led almost Compton by a mere stride almost the entire race until he could pull away in the final 300 meters. Torres clocked a 15:32 followed by Compton in 15:35.

3A Girls:
Providence Day girls overcome the 1-2 punch of Forsyth Country Day and break four-time defending champion Cardinal Gibbons streak of state titles. All three teams had three girls in the top ten but Providence's fourth and fifth girls seal the deal with strong runs (19:44 and 20:09). Providence Day was led by senior Emily Yandle's 19:08. Collectively, Providence Day girls averaged 19:36 to stake a claim as the top team in the state. Individually, Elizabeth Bruce of Forsyth ran away from the field with a solid time of 18:18 followed by her teammate McKenzie Pierce in 18:50.

2A Boys:
Carolina Day wins the best race of the day with a one point victory over Cape Fear Academy. Carolina Day put their top five in the top twenty to win. Individually, Jeff Heinzwl of Westminster Catawba won in 16:36.

1A/2A girls:
Carolina Day-ranked #1 in the state-continued its dominance by winning its 8th state title. Carolina Day put four in the top five including the top three spots. Brenna Burns led the charge with an 18:18 effort followed by her teammates Taylor Barr (19:30) and Laura Kaplan (19:49). Cate McLean (20:15) and Megan Saunders rounded on the top five for Carolina Day (20:36). The girls won by 72 points.

1A Boys:
Cresset Christian defeats Shannon Forest for its first state title (31 to 44). Ben Little of Gaston Day took top the individual title in 17:45.
