Boys - Girls

Boys

A total of six runners finished under 16:00 minutes led by West Plains senior Josh Harper in 15:14.70. Kenneth Bowling's (Republic) 4:59.4 average helped him to a second place finish of 15:30.20. Bowling pulled away from Harper's teammate, Matt Brown, who finished third in a time of 15:38.60. The nationally ranked West Plains Zizzers won with 27 points and placed all seven runners within 15th place. Twenty teams competed in the boys race. The Glendale high school pack was the closest team to the Zizzers by finishing 91 points behind, with 118 total points. In a dual for fifth place, Brain Roe (West Plains) nipped Brian Gosnell (Tahlequah) with respective times of 15:59.10 and 15:59.50. Finishing nine seconds ahead was fourth place Chase Feltner of Russellville with a time of 15:50.10. And rounding out the top seven was Burt Hicks of Lake Hamilton in a time of 16:03.10.

Girls

For the Lady Zizzers, success, as usual, followed on the girls side of things. They finished with a better score of 22 points, but "only" had seven runners within 18th place. However, St. Thomas Aquinas narrowed the gap by finishing within 65 points in a total of 87 points for a team score. Sixteen teams competed in the girls race. With four runners in the top six, sophomore Jennifer Harper (West Plains) won in a time of 18:39.40. As her teammate won by averaging 6:00 minute miles, freshman teammate, Mindy Lahey, finished second in a time of 18:57.20. Finishing 10 seconds behind Lahey was Lake Hamilton's Beth Madson in a time of 19:06.9.
