Awards:

-T-shirts to all high school varsity runners (7 per varsity team).
-Longsleeve shirt to each head coach (1 per varsity team), including middle schools.
-Trophies to the top three teams in each division, including middle schools.
-Championship longsleeve shirts (7) to the winning team in each division, including middle schools.
-Medals to the top 30 in each varsity run and each reserve race.
-Medals to the top 50 in middle school races.
-All head coaches who complete the information card at registration,
will be eligible for our Nike drawing.

Roster Entry & Deadline:

You must register your team online at www.portageinvite.com under the registration section. Please see the attached set of instructions for registering your team. We will be using the ChampionChip timing system this year. You will need to enter your ENTIRE TEAM, even if you think they might not be running. We will not allow additional entries on the day of meet.

Please have your team registered by Friday, September 20

Entrance Fee: High Schools: $80 per varsity team, or $150 for both men and women.
Middle Schools: $30 per team, or $50 for both boys and girls. No individual rates, sorry.
All entry fees must be paid prior to the October 5th, 2002.

Packet Pick-up: Please pick up your final instructions packet upon arriving at the official's canopy.


Course Description and Preview: High school distance is 5000 meters and middle school is 2500 meters. The course is a repeat loop, which is relatively flat on the southern portion, and some hills on the northern portion, and all turns are very smooth. The course will be available for preview Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th.

Elementary Fun Run: There will be a free one-mile elementary fun run on Friday, October 4th, at 4:15. There will be prizes for all finishers.

Concessions & T-shirt Sales: A variety of food and beverages will be offered at our concession tent. Longsleeve t-shirts will be sold for $15 at the concession tent. Cash and checks will be accepted as payments.

Digital Photos: Photographic quality pictures of all races will be taken and processed on site. Pictures may be purchased for $7.00 on the day of the meet, or $8.00 if you would like the picture to be mailed.

Gazelle Sports & Nike Tent: Our meet sponsors will have a tent selling Nike running shoes and other running products. Cash and checks will be accepted as payments.

Results: Printed results will be provided for each race and made available to coaches and press. Due to the size of the meet, we will be sending results only to the Kalamazoo Gazette.

DyeStat.com: John and Donna Dye will be providing the Portage Invitational with national internet coverage as one of their feature meets for 2002. You will be able to see pre-meet coverage, day of meet coverage, and results at: www.dyestat.com

Bathroom/Dressing Facilities: Bathrooms will be available for athletes and spectators in Moorsbridge Elementary School, West Middle School, and port-o-johns near the starting line.

Parking: Busses and team vans should park in the parking lot in front of Moorsbridge Elementary School and cars may park in the lot in front of West Middle School. There is a $1.00 parking fee for spectators. Please advise your spectators of this fee, thank you.
