Women
In the open race, for 80% of the race, any of the top four could win, but by the home stretch, it was a two-person battle. FW Concordia teammates Adelle Mitchell and Alissa McKaig, Wawasee sophomore Rachel Stichter, and Lake Central senior Tiffany Redlarczyk all were within four seconds at the two-mile, but Stichter and Redlarczyk pulled away from the Concordia duo and Stichter led Redlarczyk all the way to the line, winning in 13:40, with Redlarczyk in 13:43. Mitchell and McKaig finished in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Columbus North's Julie Eckerly was fifth, leading her team to the victory with 117 points. DeKalb HS girls were the surprise of the day, pulling out second place with 146 points. FW Concordia girls finished with 162 points.
In the closed race, it was a one runner show. FW Bishop Luers senior Nikki Jasperson had a 5-second lead at the half-mile and was up nine seconds at the mile, where she passed in 5:48. She seemed to put it on cruise control the rest of the race, going through the two-mile in 12:01, and finishing in 14:46. Maggie Noonan (Maconaquah HS) and Melissa Wysong (West Noble HS) battled back and forth, but Noonan took control the last 800 meters, to take second in 15:00, with Wysong third in 15:06. New Prairie HS girls won the division with 81 points, with Leo HS second (90 points) and FW Bishop Luers HS third with 144 points.
