Illinois Week

September 27- week 4 details on IllinoisRunner.com

by Scott Bush, IllinoisRunner.com, the site for Illinois news

It was a great week with York opening up its invitational racing season and dominating a strong field at Palatine. Junior Sean McNamara (York) and sophomore Glenn Morris (Palatine) look like top five runners right now. On the girls side at Palatine, #1 Palatine took on #2 Barrington. Palatine won in a close battle 34-44, as the two teams destroyed the rest of the field.

Matt Withrow ran another stellar time. He ran 14:42 at the Tinley Park Invitational, which is a legit 3.0 miles. He won his race by 1:12. This kid is still building his base and is better than ever.

Eric MacTaggart won his race easily as well at the Plainfield Invitational. He won in 16:15 on a tough, and somewhat long course. He won by 31 seconds.

On the girls side, Christina Fiduccia (Barrington) beat Amy Laskowske (Palatine and defending state 3200m runner) by six seconds. Fiduccia broke her course record from the year before by over 15 seconds and really looked strong the entire race. Both of these girls will be ones to watch come state and hopefully Footlocker.
