1,700 run in Idaho's largest meet

The largest meet in the history of Idaho Cross-Country was held last week at Eagle Island State Park in Boise. This is the site of the State Championships November 1st. Over 1700 runner competed on the day, with a College race starting the day off.

In the Class B race, the 2A Firth Boys ran away from the field with a score of (55) to Riverside, Wa. (91) points. The next best Idaho team was Gooding (149)who looks to be in the drivers seat to win the 3A title. On the girls side Riverside, Wa. (75) came down and pulled off a narrow victory over 2A Firth (78) and 3A Bear Lake (79). Firth and Bear Lake clearly distanced themselves towards being the favorites in November.

In the Class A race, the 5A Skyline boys ran well as a pack to capture the team tiltle with 156 points to 5A Borah (161) and 4A Hillcrest (174). On the girls side Lowry, Nv visited Idaho and came away with the team title with 84 points. Second was 4A Bishop Kelly with 95 and third 5A Borah 135. Rounding out the top 5 were Mt. View 142 and Hillcrest 157.

Individually the fastest times of the day were laid down by Ian Batch(Sr.) of Capital with a 16:27.81 chasing him was Freshman Mike Armon of Coeur d' Alene with 16:28.21. In the girls race Freshman sensation Karleigh Gempler of Borah won with a time of 19:10.10. Second was Hayley Oveson of Wallowa, Or with 19:24.61 and third was Jackie Carter of Bishop Kelly at 19:36.22.
