Smoky Hill's Katelyn Kaltenbach, Brent Vaughn win

Boys - Girls - Rocky Mountain News story

US#5 Smoky Hill CO girls continued hot with soph Katelyn Kaltenbach winning with a 9-second PR in 18:00 5k at Northglenn. Older sister Megan Kaltenbach sat out the race as she is recovering from illness. Smoky Hill's Brent Vaughn broke a 10-year-old meet record in 15:32, but the team title went to the Fort Collins boys.

Smoky's US#5 girls were without the services of Megan Kaltenbach, who is nearly recovered from the illness that hampered her at Great American last weekend. Megan's absence opened the door for younger sister Katelyn, who won the race in 17:58, setting a 9-second PR. Smoky's Morgan Schulz was 3rd in 18:30, and overall, Smoky placed 6 girls under 20:00. The girls team remains undefeated, including winning last weekend's Loveland Sweetheart Invitational, without either Kaltenbach.
